GUN CONTROL AFTER SEPT. 11 My latest FrontPage column reviews two of the lessons made clear in the last three weeks: Laws rarely dissuade those determined to commit evil, and guns often do. Tuesday, October 02, 2001
WEINKOPF.COM FOOTBALL POOL, WEEK 3 The Weinkopf.com football pool is starting to look much like the NFL itself, with incredible parity between the competitors. In week 1, there was a whopping 7-point difference between first and last place (and I, sadly, was at the bottom of that pile). But now only three points separate this week's top winners and the bottom dwellers. Dave Coher, AKA Lakewood Lancers, recovered from last week's disaster, completing his journey from first to worst and back to first again. He scored ten wins, putting him in first place in the cumulative total. But close behind are Chris AKA Hoboken Headhunter and Jason AKA VivaLas49ers, the latter of whom tied with Coher for first place on the week with 10 wins. With two impressive weeks in a row, Jason has surpassed Steel Man Joe as the one to watch. Cris, Stacy AKA ClevelandDawg, Least Likely To Win, The Poor Deluded Pats Fan Kenny, and yours truly all put in a decent 8 wins, tying for second place on the week. Rounding up the rear were Steel Man Joe, Hail to The Redskin AKA Scott, and Shadow Walker. All scored 7 wins -- a respectable total, but not good enough for what's turned out to be a very competitive field. So on we go to week 4, with the Patriots ascendant, and good things to come. Yours, Chris, The Mighty Mighty Pats Fan Monday, October 01, 2001
IN GOD WE STILL TRUST That's the theme of this week's Daily News column -- the resurgence of faith in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. Enjoy -- and please send those comments. |
