    COHER CRASHES
So Dave Coher, AKA Lakewood Lancers, is human after all. Having owned first place since week one, and with two 10-win weeks already to his credit, his ultimate victory in the Weinkopf.com Football Pool looked all but inevitable.

But the mighty have fallen. Coher checked in with a miserable three successful picks this week, and was surpassed in the cumulative total by Cris "Hoboken Headhunters" of NYT fame. This week it was Cris who cracked double digits, and who now sits alone at first place. She doesn't need a job -- she could make a good living just betting football.

And so it is Cris who has claimed the "one to watch" mantle, and who is now also the one to beat.

Honorable mention for the week goes to Kenny the Poor Deluded Pats Fan (who, by the way, doesn't seem so poor or deluded any more -- GO PATS!), who racked up an impressive 9. Third place for the week goes to Scott "Hail to the Redskins" Rubush, whose team finally won a game, and who took 8 wins himself.

(I might add that going into this week, Scott and I were tied. And our picks for this week were almost identical, but for three games. Wouldn't you know it, Scott got all three of those games right, and I got all three of them wrong. (Curse those Broncos, Chiefs, and Jets.) Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Also worth mentioning is that Ben "The Steel Curtain" Kepple continues his quixotic quest to overtake Coher -- ahead of schedule. Having bested Coher by 4 wins this week and 2 wins the last, he's now shaved his deficit to a mere 19. Attaboy, Benny.

Another interesting note: The game we all picked identically -- Green Bay over Minnesota -- we all got wrong. So much for our lock of the week.

Now we enter week 7 in what's been a highly unpredictable season, where good teams rise and fall quickly, as do good pickers.
