APOLOGETICS MADE EASY I've come across the following column, Reasons To Believe, by Nick Lombardo, a fellow alum from my high school. I can't say I knew Nick very well, and I haven't seen him in 11 years, but rumor has it he's gone on to become a priest. Anyway, Nick wrote this piece back while he was a student at (of all places) Brown University. His effort at Catholic apologetics must have sent the Providence radicals into fits. It's a good read -- concise, but effective. Wednesday, April 10, 2002
WHY THEY RAIL AGAINST CELIBACY My latest FrontPage column deals with both the logical deficiencies and the real motivations of those who, in light of the ongoing sex scandal, want to do away with the Catholic Church's discipline of priestly celibacy. WIDGET ELEMENTARY This week's Daily News column: The California Teachers Association says that teachers should be treated like professionals. Why then, does the union insist on treating them like factory line workers? PRASH HEADS SOUTH, THEN EAST Our friend Prashant Agarwal dropped by this weekend as part of his cross-country move from San Francisco to Boston. He's keeping a must-read travel blog on his personal website, agarwal.com. Sunday's post includes a killer photo of Mary Kate and me in front of our glass door and, more importantly, the orange tree that provided us with our Sunday-morning OJ. Bon voyage, Prash! |
