    EXPANSION AT WEINKOPF.COM

It's official, the Weinkopf clan is expanding, with our first child due on January 1, 2003. That's his or her first picture above. It's a profile of the baby, highlighting the spine, with the head on the right. Toward the bottom you can see his or her leg, and near the top we think that's a hand!

The picture below is a little more abstract. That illuminated blob on the right is our little one's head (note the large brain area!) -- those two indentations on the sides are apparently its eyes! The big blob just southwest is its ribcage.

What a precious miracle. Praise God!

    A COLUMN ...
My return to the Daily News Sunday Viewpoint section: A look at the reaction to the Inglewood police beating.

    ...AND AN OBSERVATION
Media bias in action, courtesy of an article in today's Boston Globe: "Vermont Governor Howard Dean yesterday called for a rollback of President Bush's $1.3 trillion tax cut to pay for universal health coverage, the strongest antitax cut proposal to date by a potential 2004 Democratic presidential contender."

    Antitax cut proposal?

A repeal of a tax cut is, pure and simple, a hike in the current level of taxation. What Gov. Dean proposes is what any honest reporter would call a tax hike. Tax-hiking politicians like to try to couch tax hikes as something else, but the media shouldn't get into the business of passing off spin as fact.
