OK, I must begin with apologies for not posting AT ALL for the second half of this season. No excuses, but let me just say that regular posting IS my New Year's resolution for 2005 -- promise. Now, has anyone noticed that the top four poolers are, in this order: Lone Star Lizzie, the Auginator, I Can Still Throw the Ball, and Grogan's Heroes? These are the four eldest members of the Fort Worth Scagel Clan -- Elizabeth, Auggie, Mac, and Kenny. That is, a single family dominates our pool, and one member is all but certain to win this year's contest. Has such a thing every happened before in the history of Pooldom? Is this just a matter of Texas pigskin intuition? What should happen to us next year if the youngest Scagel, 9-month-old Claire, enters the pool. Will any of the rest of us stand a chance? So, which Scagel will be this year's winner? We'll soon know, but we can only imagine this must be a tense week in the Scagel home!
